Laying the Foundation

To help fulfill the mission of increasing student access to quality instruction, AdvanceKentucky partners with the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI) and together we are dedicated to improving English, mathematics, and science instruction. The program provides comprehensive hands-on training with nationally endorsed trainers guiding participants through content-rich instruction. Participants receive a full suite of print and online classroom-ready resources consisting of model lessons, formative and summative assessments, as well as STEM labs and activities. The training emphasizes research-based instructional strategies and best practices including inquiry-based learning, instructional scaffolding, and vertical alignment for grades 3-12.

In response to COVID-19, AdvanceKentucky has canceled all face-to-face Laying the Foundation events for the summer of 2020. As an alternative, we have committed to hosting online Laying the Foundation training and sessions will be held as originally scheduled below. Virtual training will consist of prior individual prep work, online live training/discussion, and break-away group work in chat rooms with the LTF trainer moderating.
