STEM Coordinator

Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation (KSTC) (kstc.com), a Lexington-based independent and innovative 501(c)(3) non-profit and leader in developing and managing creative initiatives in education, entrepreneurship, disruptive R&D, economic competitiveness and workforce development, seeks a full-time STEM Coordinator to coordinate activities across its AdvanceKentucky K-12 STEM programs.

Position Summary:

Support an increasing number of schools participating in the College Readiness Program, CS Initiatives, Access to Algebra, and Makerminded programs.  Utilize educational background, content knowledge, and networks to engage teachers and students in STEM/Advanced Manufacturing opportunities.  Coordinate activities and efforts to support growth and development of all AdvanceKentucky programs.  Communicate with program partners and stay informed on current educational trends. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Build and support a statewide presence for Kentucky Makerminded by dramatically expanding the number of schools participating in the program
  • Manage Kentucky Makerminded website and social media to promote and engage schools across Kentucky
  • Assist with data analysis and progress monitoring of active schools and programs
  • Provide on-site visits to schools and presentations at relevant STEM conferences as requested
  • Assist schools with logistics of program requirements

Position Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Experience in STEM-related field required
  • Must have own transportation and be willing to travel independently up to 50% of the time
  • Experience with K-12 STEM programs preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Technology skills

Given the statewide breadth of our expansion, this will be a full-time position. Eligible applicants are expected to be able to travel to schools and/or conferences during school days.

Math Content Manager

Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation (KSTC) (kstc.com), a Lexington-based independent and innovative 501(c)(3) non-profit and leader in developing and managing creative initiatives in education, entrepreneurship, disruptive R&D, economic competitiveness and workforce development, seeks a full-time Math Content Manager for its middle school Access to Algebra program.

Position Summary:

Support an increasing number of schools participating in the Access to Algebra program. Utilize educational background and content knowledge to assist teachers with curriculum, classroom practice, and program implementation to dramatically increase the number of students meeting math benchmark by the time they transition to high school. Communicate with program partners and stay informed on current educational trends.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop rapport with program teachers to create a supportive culture
  • Provide content support for teachers (i.e. through lesson modeling, resource sharing, and curriculum planning)
  • Assist with data analysis and progress monitoring of active schools
  • Identify schools’ needs for successful implementation of program
  • Provide on-site visits to schools as requested
  • Assist schools with logistics of program requirements

Position Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Experience in math education required with preference given to middle school background
  • Proficiency with Kentucky Math Academic Standards required
  • Must have own transportation and be willing to travel independently up to 50% of the time
  • Experience with and understanding of Laying the Foundation lessons preferred
  • Strong familiarity with KPREP Assessments and TPGES preferred
  • Experience in training or leading teachers preferred
