Preparing the Commonwealth's next generation of STEM scholars through high impact K-12 initiatives

Many more students are interested in pursuing STEM-related courses if given adequate support and opportunity.

With support from valuable partners like Kentucky Department of Education, National Math and Science Initiative, Code.org and many others, AdvanceKentucky® works with districts across Kentucky to provide professional development, mentoring and student recruitment to increase enrollment and success in STEM classrooms.  We focus our efforts on critical areas that provide opportunities for students as they transition through their academic career.

Our mission is to work with local, state, and national partners to dramatically expand student access to and success in rigorous coursework enabling students to pursue advanced college and career opportunities.  To help achieve this goal we provide support in the following critical areas

AdvanceKentucky supports teaching and learning in Advanced Placement® math, science, computer science, English, and Capstone courses to allow students to earn college credit while still in high school and develop the skills they need to be successful after high school.

Math Tutor

Access to algebraic thinking and concepts in the middle grades has long been a milestone toward students taking advanced coursework in high school.  Access to Algebra aims to increase participation and success in 8th grade Algebra.

Computer Class

A strong foundation in computer science is critical for students who wish to pursue advanced careers.  AdvanceKentucky works with Kentucky Department of Education's CS/IT Academy and as the Code.org Regional Partner for Kentucky to prepare K-12 teachers to expand access to computer science.
